According to Slot, senior Liverpool players need to get new contracts

Arne Slot, the new manager of Liverpool, has stated that in order to secure future contracts at Anfield, senior players in the final year of their contracts must perform well. This statement was made prior to the team’s Premier League home game against Brentford on Sunday.

The contracts of captain Virgil van Dijk, forward Mohamed Salah, and England international Trent Alexander-Arnold are set to expire at the conclusion of the season.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Slot stated, “The sole thing I am required to do with all of them is to extract the best possible performance from them.”

“If we maximize their potential and they demonstrate exceptional performance, it is ultimately their decision whether or not to sign a new contract, and it is ultimately our decision as the club.”

Alisson Becker, the Liverpool goalkeeper with two years remaining on his contract, disclosed to British media on Saturday that he declined a lucrative offer to relocate to Saudi Arabia during the offseason.
