Cole, an ex-England defender, has been included in Carsley’s coaching staff

Ashley Cole, a former England left back, will serve as an assistant coach together with interim manager Lee Carsley, the Football Association announced on Friday.

Cole, who played for England on over 100 occasions between 2001 and 2014, participated in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 World Cups, as well as the 2004 and 2012 European Championships.

Joleon Lescott, Cole’s former England colleague, and Tim Dittmer, the FA’s director of coaching, will also be assigned to Carsley’s squad.

With the 2023 Under-21 Euro-winning squad, the triumvirate collaborated with Carsley.

In anticipation of the Nations League campaign, Carsley was designated interim coach of England on August 9, following Gareth Southgate’s resignation.

The finalists of the Euro 2024 competition will visit Ireland on September 7 and host Finland three days later.
