Dortmund striker Fullkrug is signed by West Ham

German striker Niclas Fullkrug, who was formerly with Borussia Dortmund, has signed a four-year contract with West Ham United, the Premier League team announced on Monday.

Before the previous season, Fullkrug was being considered by the London team. However, he decided to go from Werder Bremen to Dortmund, a Bundesliga team, where he scored 16 goals in 46 games across all competitions.

“I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and for me it is the right time to move over to England and play for a big Club like West Ham,” Fullkrug stated.

“I’ve been considering West Ham for a while now. I’ve known Tim Steidten, the technical director, when we were teammates at Werder Bremen. I’ve also witnessed a few games and can attest to the team’s high caliber.”

Although the deal’s exact financials were kept under wraps, reports state that the Hammers paid 27 million pounds ($34.5 million) for the German international.

The 31-year-old Fullkrug scored twice in five games while playing for Germany in the Euro 2024 competition.
