7th Grade drop out Harmonize is giving up music to attend school

Harmonize, commonly known as Rajab Kahali, the star of Bongo Flava, has set his retirement age at 50 since he realizes he won’t be in the music business forever. This year, the Uno hitmaker turned thirty. He has since revealed that, after leaving the music business, he wants to become a doctor.

The head of Konde Music Worldwide states his hopes for a different route while acknowledging the limited nature of a music career.

After 13 years in the music industry, Harmonize gained notoriety in 2015 with his commercially successful first hit song, “Aiyola,” under the guidance of bongo flava singer Diamond Platnumz.

Since then, the singer has amassed a sizeable fortune via his music, and he intends to keep making more money until he reaches retirement age, at which point he can pursue philanthropy and return to school to pursue a medical degree.

“I’ve been pondering a career in medicine as I consider my future, maybe after I retire from music at the age of 45 or 50. In order to help people, I would like to work in a hospital for at least a year,” Harmonize says.

The musician clarified that although he dropped out of school in the seventh grade because of poverty and turned to music as a method to better his life, he has always wanted to be a doctor. He feels that changing careers will enable him to meaningfully contribute back to the community.

But in one of his interviews this year, he disclosed that, ever since he was a young child, his desire had been to become a famous soccer player who would represent his nation on the international scene rather than a musician.

Despite claiming that the ambition was not realized, he turned his attention to music with the goal of introducing Tanzanian music to a global audience. Harmonize has worked with a number of well-known African performers throughout the course of his career, including Naira Marley, Ruger, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Sarkodie.

His achievement of breaking 100 million streams on the international music streaming site Audiomack in May of this year was a noteworthy milestone. With this achievement, he became the second artist from East Africa to exceed 100 million streams on the site, after Diamond Platnumz, his former boss and mentor.

With his fascinating melodies and catchy beats, Harmonize has established himself as one of Tanzania’s and East Africa’s most prominent performers, and this accomplishment only serves to strengthen that reputation.
