Employees at TikTok parent company ByteDance are fighting food poisoning, causing a health concern in the Singapore office

Following a food poisoning epidemic, dozens of people were admitted to the ByteDance Singapore office; an investigation is currently underway.

A food poisoning outbreak has sent dozens of employees of TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to the hospital. Officials in charge of food safety and health are looking into the case after 60 workers reported having gastroenteritis on Tuesday, with 57 of them needing hospitalization.

ByteDance is investigating the origin of the disease in addition to using outside caterers for food. To help those impacted, 17 ambulances were sent to the business district building, according to the local media. A ByteDance representative emphasized the company’s dedication to worker health and safety as well as their collaboration with law enforcement and emergency services.

The Ministry of Health and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) emphasized the significance of food safety procedures and issued a warning about potential enforcement measures against careless food vendors.

Founded in 2012, ByteDance first achieved success with Douyin in China before taking TikTok global. With more than a billion active users today, TikTok is still owned by ByteDance but is run by a limited liability corporation with offices in Singapore and Los Angeles.
