After Ryan Garcia threatened to kill her family, his ex-wife obtained a restraining order against him

A restraining order against the boxer Ryan Garcia has been issued to Andrea Celina Velarde, his ex-wife.

After a horrific event on July 19, Velarde filed the protection request last week in a Los Angeles courthouse. According to Velarde, Garcia showed up and started threatening the two while she and her brother were out to dinner. Velarde told the court that the troublesome athlete followed her home after leaving the restaurant and stayed outside for ten minutes. Garcia reportedly told Velarde over the course of the following two days that if she didn’t talk to him, he would put a hit on her father and brother.

“This is f WAR. I desire to kill you, brother. I’m eager. We’re going to murder him,” one of Garcia’s texts said. “I’ll kill your dad and your brother at the same time,” he wrote in another.

Garcia has also made threats to post their sex films online. A judge ruled that the boxer must stay at least 100 yards away from Velarde and the two children of the former spouse after considering the overwhelming amount of evidence. Her sibling and parents are also covered by the protective order. Additionally, he has been told to delete every sexual video he owns of his ex-wife. Garcia is accused of destroying her home and calling her derogatory terms like “whe” and “b*h” just a few days prior to the restaurant incident.

The couple called it quits in December 2023. Garcia declared their separation the next month, and it seems like things moved forward swiftly with the divorce. Garcia says he has never had physical contact with his ex-wife, but he has committed to go to treatment.
