Peter Msechu, a musician, adopts a one-meal-a-day diet after suffering a death scare

Bongo Flava musician Peter Msechu claims he was compelled to switch to a one-meal-a-day diet after suffering a near-death experience due to his weight.
The 2010 Tusker Project Fame first runner-up, who gave up music to concentrate on weight loss, has disclosed that his new approach to the challenge involves eating only one meal a day.

Msechu recently talked candidly about his new strategy for losing the excess weight he put on as a result of his voracious hunger in an interview with a Tanzanian radio station.
“These days, my meal barely fills a small child’s cup. I eat one meal a day, precisely at five o’clock. Msechu said, “I know that most people will find this hard to believe, but anyone who struggles with being overweight will understand me.”

Even while this may seem unusual to some, Msechu claims that this is his new normal.
It was not like that in the past. There were two things that would happen if you welcomed me to the table and there was rice and beans: either I would get bored chewing the food or I would eat it all because I wouldn’t know when to stop. In one sitting, I could have a whole chicken and as many as four plates of chips,” he said.

At 184 kg, Msechu started his weight loss adventure on the advice of doctors who told him that his life was in danger.
He acknowledged that his weight had caused him to lose consciousness for five days while he was at home.
“There was this time I passed out at home for three days, and if I had kept up the old methods, I wouldn’t be here now. The physicians informed me that my heart was in danger of collapsing due to an excess of fat surrounding the organ, which was impairing its ability to function. I started the process of changing my lifestyle since the doctors told me I didn’t have much time left,” Msechu continued.

He lost 17 kg after having a gastric balloon inserted as the first phase in his weight loss quest, which decreased his appetite.
Msechu weighed 143 kg on January 25, 2023, and 136 kg on February 5 of the same year, when he underwent another weigh-in. According to Msechu, he still has to lose weight.
