After crushing Kaizer Chiefs, Yanga SC’s future appears bright – Gamondi

Even after Young Africans (Yanga SC) defeated Kaizer Chiefs of the South African Premier League 4-0 on Sunday at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, head coach Miguel Gamondi has called for more improvements.

The Young Africans won their comprehensive victory, their second in three preseason games, behind goals from Stephane Aziz Ki twice and Clement Mzize and Prince Dube. Young Africans lost 2-1 to FC Augsburg of the German Bundesliga before narrowly defeating TS Galaxy in the Mpumalanga Premiers Cup preseason competition before taking on Kaizer Chiefs.

Gamondi discussed the game with SuperSport after the team’s victory over Kaizer Chiefs. He was pleased with the team’s performance but emphasized the need for more development. We seem to be headed in the right direction. Although we still have a lot of space for improvement, we must remain grounded and make small, steady improvements. Future prospects appear excellent,” Gamondi said, as cited by the Guardian.

We need to get better in a lot of areas because it’s a preseason game, but I always aim for excellence. I encourage the players to strive for more because I want more, more, more. We don’t know what the future holds, but we don’t fear anything with players like these.

In his second season with Young Africans, Gamondi continually pushes for an offensive style of play regardless of the circumstances and is content to allow his team’s performance speak for itself. I always talk on the pitch even though I don’t want to talk too much. We always want to play football that is compact and offensive,” Gamondi said.

“We were really realistic and played excellent defense, denying Kaizer Chiefs any opportunities to produce chances or shots on goal. We gave a fantastic performance, and I’m thrilled. One of the reasons I stuck with Young Africans this season was because I adore these players. The players are of exceptional caliber, and they have excellent work ethics and learning curves.

Young Africans are scheduled to return to South Africa today following a fruitful preseason tour, one week ahead of their Community Shield semi-final matchup against Simba at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
