Is it a tribute or a case of jealousy? Hairstylist exposes Ice Spice for ordering over 20 wigs inspired by Nicki Minaj and refusing to compensate for them

Ice Spice is facing backlash after a hairstylist claimed that the rapper left without paying for her wig.

A stylist from New York, known as Thee Bella Brand on Instagram (@theebellabrand), publicly criticized Spice in a detailed post on the platform. Bella mentioned that Spice’s team contacted them to personalize 19 wigs for Spice’s upcoming tour. They supposedly asked for an additional five. However, Bella alleges that when it came time to settle the payment for the hair units, they declined, citing budget constraints. Bella mentioned that the wig order was ultimately canceled, but since the work was already completed, the stylist kindly offered to give Spice the wigs. Her team made a counter-offer, stating that they would at least cover Bella’s service fee. Regrettably, it seems that this did not occur either, and Spice asked for another wig after the unfortunate incident.

The situation gained a lot of attention on social media throughout Tuesday, particularly when Bella stated in her post that Spice had a preference for Nicki Minaj-inspired wigs. The stylist provided a reel showcasing screenshots of Spice using photos of Minaj as references for her wig designs.

Thank you for creating these Nicki Minaj wigs for us. I won’t be sharing the remaining screenshots as this is meant to represent Princess Diana, but it’s always Queen Onika,” Bella wrote in a portion of the caption.

This widespread backlash only intensified speculation that Spice was covertly trying to imitate her ex-teacher’s fashion. This gained attention on social media when Spice appeared at the 2024 BET Awards with a stylish short layered and curled bob, reminiscent of Minaj’s hairstyle in B.O.B.’s “Out of My Mind” music video. In the text message screenshots shared by Bella, it seems that Spice included a picture of Minaj’s appearance from the visual.
