Ray C: My career failure is due to my ex-partners

The famed Tanzanian singer Ray C, whose real name is Rehema Chalamila and who previously ruled the entertainment world, has shared her thoughts about what went wrong in her career.

The singer says that at the height of her fame, her ex-partners were very important.

A number of successes, including “Na Wewe Milele,” “Mama Ntilie,” and “Uko Wapi,” were released by the former undisputed queen of bongo flava, who dominated the East African music charts in the early 2000s.

“I was young and in a crowd at the time, so I didn’t know who was good or bad.” I enjoyed people’s company when I was younger. My downfall was my love of socializing. Those that I clung to, be they friends or my boyfriend, were the reason for my demise. The people who embraced me with wide arms are the ones who demolished me, Ray C disclosed.

The celebrity also said that part of her breakdown was her naive desire to engage in everything.

“I didn’t have a refusal attitude. Second, I was too quick to trust individuals. I did as instructed if I was advised to consume Tequila. I followed instructions to consume Malaika injections without questioning the contents. Ultimately, everything came back to haunt me. I had money and celebrity, I was young and full of life. Curiosity and a need to know everything ultimately led to my downfall. I jumped right into things,” she said.

In words that she felt obligated to make, Ray C urged Gen Z females to exercise prudence in their lifestyle choices, acknowledging that these choices remind her of her own mistakes from the past.

“The way of life that these 2000s kids lead depressed me. “I observe that they share my insatiable curiosity and want to learn everything,” the woman remarked.

The single mother was returned to Rehab, Life and Hope Rehabilitation Centre, also referred to as “Sober House,” in Dar es Salaam in 2020 after being saved by police during an attempted suicide.

Former Tanzanian Presidents Jakaya and Magufuli became aware of her battle with drug addiction and offered financial support for her recovery.

When her drug addiction was at its worst, she blamed rapper Lord Eyez, her ex-boyfriend, for getting her started on narcotics.

With the exception of her once-thriving music career, Ray C is currently leaving for overseas after being able to find her groove again.
