Man City manager Guardiola claims De Bruyne is not going anywhere

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has shot off rumors that Belgian player Kevin De Bruyne is considering a move away from the team, citing he may go to Saudi Arabia.

Although De Bruyne, whose contract expires in 2025, stated last month that he is open to moving, Guardiola thinks the team won’t see any significant changes before the transfer market closes on August 30.

In front of their first game of the U.S. tour against Celtic on Monday, Guardiola declared, “Kevin is not going,” during a press conference at North Carolina State University.

“I have enjoyed the team for a long time. We’ll talk about it if someone leaves the market; I’m not sure what will happen there.

However, 85–95% of the team will be the same. Over the years, we have had an impact on the market, and each circumstance is unique. Because it would be challenging to replace the caliber of our squad, I feel at ease.”

Guardiola said last week that Kalvin Phillips, who was on loan to West Ham United, has begun practicing with the first squad. City also acquired 20-year-old Brazilian winger Savinho.

“Savinho is a devastating one-on-one player when he plays on the wing,” the Spaniard continued.

“We can’t change six or seven, but he’s young, so it’s vital to add one or two guys to keep things interesting. It cannot be sustained and is not feasible.

“Many players want to come here but we didn’t get agreements from the clubs and when they ask a very high price we don’t do it.”

On August 18, City takes on Chelsea in the Premier League championship defense.
