To commemorate Simba Day, Simba SC will play APR FC of Rwanda

On Simba Day, August 3, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Tanzania’s Simba SC is anticipated to play Rwandan powerhouses APR to finish their preseason friendlies.

The magnificent 15th Simba Day will commemorate Simba’s 88th anniversary. With 60,000 seats, the Stadium is anticipated to be packed with fervent supporters and football aficionados who have come to commemorate the legendary club’s historic past and promising future.

Simba Week, which will begin on July 24 and include a variety of social events including blood drives and donations to organizations that support people with special needs, will take place prior to the main event. The club’s dedication to community involvement and service is demonstrated by these events.

Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United, two elite South African teams, were originally scheduled by Simba to mark the day. However, according to club reports, APR, the winners of the Rwanda Premier League, emerged as strong favorites this year.

Former Simba assistant coach Thierry Hitimana stated that APR has received an invitation from Simba, which they saw as a good opportunity to test their mettle prior to taking on Azam FC in the CAF Champions League qualifying round.

We would be happy to accept Simba’s invitation to play against them on Simba Day, as our team authorities confirmed to us. We are eager for that day. It will serve as a useful evaluation of our readiness for the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

“Being Simba will give us a taste of what to expect, particularly as we prepare for our CAF Champions League match against Azam FC, who are among Tanzania’s top teams. We didn’t compete against any of those groups at the Kagame Cup, so getting to play Simba ahead of schedule will be a huge plus, Hitimana added.
