Argentina remains atop the FIFA standings, with Spain rising to third

In the most recent FIFA rankings, which were released on Thursday, World Cup winners Argentina maintained their top spot after winning the Copa America, while newly crowned European champions Spain moved up to third.

Following a hectic month for football, in which Spain defeated England to win the European Championship and Argentina defeated Colombia to win the Copa America, the rankings are released.

After an unimpressive Copa America campaign, Brazil was surpassed by England, who rose to fourth place.

The team with the biggest improvement in the rankings was Venezuela, who advanced to the Copa America quarterfinals, moving up 17 spots to 37th, while Turkey, the finalists in the Euro, advanced 16 spots to 26th.
