The Story of Chris Rock’s Two Daughters, Lola and Zahra
Chris Rock and ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock are parents of two children.
Chris Rock is first and foremost a family man, despite his comedic persona.
Along with his ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock, the renowned comedian is the father of two children, Lola Simone Rock and Zahra Savannah Rock. After splitting up in 2014, Compton-Rock and Rock formalized their divorce two years later.
Despite his admission that he’s not a “cool dad,” Rock feels that having girls has improved him as a comedian. “I believe my art has improved. In 2007, he declared, “Everything I’ve done since having kids is better than the stuff I did before having kids.”

Rock, Lola Simone, 22
Lola, Rock’s elder daughter, was born in New York City on June 28, 2002. Even though Lola walked the red carpet with Rock multiple times when she was younger, her life has stayed largely private.
He has always had a great deal of pride in Lola. Traveling in November 2017, Rock shared on social media about her academic achievements and how much she missed her. “Lola’s report card was excellent today. Zahra also received an A on her math test. Dallas tonight, I’m on tour and missing my boys,” he wrote.
In June 2020, she received her diploma from the Jack & Jill of America chapter in Bergen Passaic, where Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith delivered unexpected speeches during the virtual ceremony.
Around the same moment, Lola’s mother Compton-Rock shared what Lola had planned to accomplish next in a heartfelt Instagram tribute. “I could not be prouder of the young woman she has become and am excited for her to begin university in Europe,” wrote Compton-Rock. “She views life through the prism of communicating through food, culture, and community. Food and travel are her love languages. I can’t wait to guide her through this next stage of life as her mom. I adore her so much, and she is an amazing person.”
In June 2020, Rock celebrated Lola’s 18th birthday by getting her her first tattoo. “First tattoo for King @chrisrock and his amazing daughter,” the Bang Bang tattoo parlor in New York City posted on Instagram. On his right shoulder, Rock received a tattoo of a Basquiat crown, while Lola selected a dinosaur with a similar crown at the same location.
During his live Netflix special Selective Outrage in March 2023, Rock narrated a narrative about Lola. He revealed that his daughter and her companions had been arrested for underage drinking while on a high school field trip in Portugal. The comedian requested the dean to not give his daughter a free pass since, in his words, Lola handled the matter as though it were no big deal.
“I need you to get my daughter out of here,” he narrated, describing his talk with the authorities. “I need my Black child to learn her lesson right now before she is up on OnlyFans and some s—.”
Rock went on: “They ejected her. They expelled everyone, but they expelled my child first.”
Savannah Rock, Zahra, 20
Zahra, Rock and Compton-Rock’s younger daughter, was born on May 22, 2004. When she was just 3 years old, she made her red carpet debut at the 2007 Bee Movie premiere alongside her father.
The comedian used a viral prank at the 2016 Oscars to persuade famous guests to purchase Zahra’s girl scout cookies. “I’ve been away from my two daughters at a very important time in their life,” he stated. He continued, “I have missed most of Girl Scout cookie season.”
He went on, “My youngest, Zahra, called me last night and asked, ‘Daddy, why don’t we ever sell the most cookies?'” Why does Mrs. Dunn always come out on top? If we could defeat Linda Dunn, it would mean the world to my little girl. I want you to buy some of my daughter’s Girl Scout cookies by reaching into your millionaire’s wallet!” In the end, Rock and Zahra raised $65,243 for the charity.
The 20-year-old attends the University of Southern California these days. The adolescent utilizes her Instagram platform to promote abortion rights. She is passionate about activism and travel.
Since the kids were small, Rock has talked to them about social justice problems. He revealed to PEOPLE in 2014 how he had told his children about the Ferguson ruling, which saw a police officer not charged after murdering an unarmed Black adolescent. In the interview on the red carpet, he added, “It’s a hard one to answer right now.” “I just kind of told them what was going on. In this world, you won’t always be given the benefit of the doubt.”
