Former Premier League striker earns PGA Professional status

Peter Odemwingie, a legendary football player from Nigeria, joined the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and switched sports from football to golf.

During his tenure with the Super Eagles from 2002 to 2014, the 42-year-old scored 11 goals and earned 65 caps.

Following a productive time at Madura United in Thailand, where he scored 15 goals in 23 league games, Odemwingie announced his retirement from professional football in 2018.

The former football player for Lille OSC and West Bromwich Albion revealed that during his last days as a professional, he fell in love with golf.

“I’m extremely proud of my entire self as well as my buddies who are also graduating today. It’s a protracted voyage. According to Odemwingie, “I fell in love with the game.”

“As an amateur, I participate in a lot of pro-ams. I have a background in football. I played a group sport for a respectable amount of time. I play a different sport now, but when you play golf alone with your caddie, assuming you have one, it may be isolating at times.

“As well as witnessing what the PGA pros find enjoyable. I was as happy that day as I am now that I passed the playing ability exam and was admitted into the program.

In addition to earning silver at the 2008 Olympics, he represented Nigeria in two FIFA World Cups and four Africa Cup of Nations competitions.
