Roy Jones Jr. laments the suicide death of his son DeAndre

On Monday, boxing icon Roy Jones Jr. revealed the tragic news that his son, DeAndre Jones, had committed suicide. 32 was DeAndre’s age.

Jones, 55, who was well-known for winning numerous titles in different weight classes, posted a touching message on X (previously Twitter) expressing his thanks and sorrow. He highlighted how privileged he felt to have spent time with his kid just before his sad demise on Saturday.

“I’m incredibly grateful to God for granting me the opportunity to return home on Friday night and share the final night of his life with my family and me,” Jones wrote. “Though I am aware that many individuals are going through difficult situations at the moment, nothing justifies ending one’s own life. It belongs to God, who should also be the one to take it away.

Jones emphasized the worth of life in his message and urged anyone experiencing unpleasant emotions to get treatment. He thanked the public for their “love and support” and asked for privacy during this extremely trying period.
