Olise will choose France over Algeria and Nigeria

Despite being qualified to play for England, Nigeria, and Algeria, Michael Olise, the new signing for Bayern Munich, aspires to represent France at the senior level.

Given that his mother is French-Algerian and his father is Nigerian, the 22-year-old winger was born in London but has African ancestry.

Despite being passed over by Didier Deschamps for Les Bleus’ Euro 2024 campaign, Olise has previously made appearances for the French Under-18 and Under-21 squads.

Bayern won the race to recruit the former Reading young player when he activated his release clause last week. Following an outstanding 2023–24 season for Crystal Palace, the player has been linked to a move away from Selhurst Park.

Olise was named in the U21 Olympic preliminary squad and has stated his desire to continue competing for France at the highest level, according to Les Espoirs head coach Thierry Henry.

Henry stated, “We know that he has plenty of possibilities, but he wants to play for France,” according to the Mirror. His ambition to demonstrate that he wants to play for the French squad must be highlighted.

“He would have departed to play for England long ago if he was English. Although he knows he wouldn’t play in the Euros, he still wants to play for France. He could have chosen to play in the tournament with the England squad, just like his Crystal Palace teammate Eberechi Eze.
