Kim Kardashian Wears the “If” music video outfit that Janet Jackson purchased at an auction

With her most recent appearance, Kim Kardashian is channeling Janet Jackson!

On Tuesday, June 4, Kardashian, 43, shared a video of herself attending Jackson, 58, at her concert while sporting the exact same attire that the singer did in the 1993 music video for her song “If.” The diva has previously disclosed that she had bought the legendary group at auction.

The creator of SKIMS initially revealed a portion of her ensemble on Instagram Stories, where she filmed herself moving around indoors in black boots and flared slacks with side frilling.

“Can you guys guess where I’m heading this evening?” Kardashian enquired of her fans. “I’ll wager you never guess…”

Then, while Jackson’s song “If” played, she panned out to show off her entire ensemble in another footage. She was wearing a black crop top with white boning across the chest and matching lace-up slacks.

Kardashian said with excitement in the caption, “I’m spamming tonight so unless you wanna see so much @janetjackson content I suggest you stay off my page.”
Kardashian continued to record her ensemble in the car on the way to the Palm Springs, California event. There, she flaunted her white, boned choker, which Jackson had previously worn in the music video for the song “If.”

In honor of Michael Jackson’s 55th birthday, Kardashian disclosed in 2021 that she had purchased the singer’s attire from the song video at auction. Later, in a tweet, Julian’s Auctions verified that the Kardashians star paid $25,000 for the customized appearance.

Kardashian said on Instagram Stories at the time, “For @janetjackson’s bday bc I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this on @juliens_auctions.”

The SKIMS founder, who purchased the clothing three years prior, re-posted Jackson’s message to her on Tuesday, June 4.

“Many thanks, @kimkardashian! 💖💖,” the vocalist wrote. “I hope ‘If’ brings you the same joy that it did me 😘😘😘.”

Additionally, Kardashain posted videos to her Instagram Stories from her experience at Michael Jackson’s concert, where Allison Statter, her closest friend, also attended.

Kardashian’s tribute ensemble was inspired by several garments she had previously bought from the Jackson family.

For their 10-year-old daughter North, Kardashian and her ex-husband Kanye West disclosed in December 2019 that they had won Michael Jackson’s velvet jacket and the famous white fedora he wore in the 1988 music video for “Smooth Criminal” at an auction.
