John Legend: “I Was Horrified” by the “Shameful” Sexual Assault Lawsuits Against Diddy
The claims of sexual assault against Sean “Diddy” Combs, his former partner, have severely troubled and upset John Legend, who has called them all “shameful.”
In response to newly discovered hotel security tape showing Diddy abusing his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura physically, Legend denounced Diddy’s behavior and called for “accountability” and “healing” for all those who were allegedly harmed.
A grand jury has already been formed to investigate the allegations made against Sean “Diddy” Combs, and he is expected to be indicted on them.
The hitmaker of “All of Me” has admitted that he was shocked to hear about the multiple sexual assault cases filed against his former partner, Diddy.
In a recent CNN appearance, Legend expressed his shock at the accusations, calling them “horrifying.” He also called the viral footage of the “Bad Boy for Life” vocalist beating his ex “shameful.”
“I was horrified by the descriptions that I read before the video evidence came out,” he stated. “And absolutely, it’s something that needs to be brought to light when it happens.”
“It’s really unfortunate,” Legend went on. “I really just want accountability and hopefully some healing for all of his victims.”
“My default stance is to believe women when they make these accusations and to make sure that we do whatever we can to support women [making them],” he stated.
In addition, the former “Voice” coach expressed his worries and insisted that Diddy’s victims receive “accountability and reparations.”
He stated that he hopes “that they’re heard and that any kind of accountability and reparations can be made to make these women whole again.” Additionally, he expressed empathy for Cassie by saying that he only wants “the best” for her.
Alongside Diddy, Legend and Babyface recorded a song called “Kim Porter,” named for Diddy’s ex-partner, with whom he has three children. 2018 saw Porter’s death from pneumonia.
According to reports, the Department of Justice is getting ready to file an indictment against Diddy in response to the recent accusations of sexual assault.
The Daily Mail claims that a grand jury has already been chosen to hear the evidence authorities have against him in a federal investigation, and that his accusers have been informed they might be asked to testify against him.
The music mogul’s case is reportedly still being assembled by Homeland Security officials, who want it to be “bulletproof.”
Surprisingly, Diddy took to his Instagram page to confront and apologize for his behavior after receiving a lot of backlash online for his violent actions in the CNN tape.
The rapper remarked, “It’s hard to think back on your worst moments, but sometimes you have to. I was messed up. I mean, I really did reach my lowest point, but I don’t apologize. My actions [in] the video are unacceptable. I accept all accountability for the things I did in that video. I’m abhorred. When I first did it, I was disgusted, and I still am.”
He went on, “I went and I looked for expert assistance.” Had to start seeing a therapist. Rehab was necessary. needed to beg God for his forgiveness and grace. I really apologize. However, I’m determined to [be] a better man every single day. Furthermore, I’m not pleading for pardon. I apologize sincerely.”
During his interview with CNN, Legend also discussed his new podcast series “Afghan Star,” which explores the reality competition show of the same name that looked for gifted vocalists all around Afghanistan.
“It’s a beautiful story of the power of music, the power of the people’s resilience, and a really remarkable show that was pretty revolutionary for its time,” he stated. “It truly got the country’s attention… The narrative, in addition to being inspirational, truly demonstrates the power of music and the strength of the human spirit.
After debuting on television in 2005, the show ran for 15 seasons.
“Music is not dead in Afghanistan right now, even though the Taliban’s back in charge,” Legend stated. “I think the spirit that was awakened and revived in Afghanistan by shows like ‘Afghan Star’ and other connections with music and entertainment, it’s hard to put that back in the bottle.”
