According to reports, Jose Mourinho has accepted terms to join Fenerbahce in Turkey

Numerous reports state that Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce are expected to reach an agreement for a two-year period. After leaving Porto in 2004, the Portuguese manager will begin a new chapter in his career by taking on coaching duties in the Turkish Super Leaug. This will be his first experience outside of one of the five main European leagues. Following his January departure from AS Roma, Mourinho had been searching for a new position.

Mourinho will be coaching in a new league after having previously held coaching positions at Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham, and AS Roma. Over the previous two and a half years, The Special One has been the coach of AS Roma. During that time, the team has reached the UEFA Europa League final, only losing to Sevilla on penalties, and won the UEFA Conference League in 2022. Mourinho has stated that he is prepared to return to the sidelines in the summer of 2024 in an interview with Fabrizio Romano. “I’m prepared to begin anew. I don’t need to ponder or rest like I typically do. I don’t want to make the wrong decision, yet I’m ready and feel fine. I must exercise patience. My goal is to begin anew this summer.”

According to the vice president of the team, Besiktas of Turkey expressed interest in hiring Mourinho as well in a recent interview. Nonetheless, it appears that Fenerbahce will hire the Portuguese coach in the end. Fenerbahce was in the running for the championship this season, but even with 99 points, the team finished second, behind Galatasaray, their local rivals. Mourinho’s goal is to return Fenerbahce to the title for the first time since the 2013–14 campaign.
