Prior to the WC qualifiers, Zimbabwe modifies their coaching staff

Important coaching changes have been made by the Zimbabwean national football team in front of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Lesotho.

Days before the Warriors’ World Cup qualifying match, the Zimbabwe Football Association was supposed to name a permanent coach, but they never did.

The ZFA stated that Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera has been appointed as an interim replacement as they work to resolve their current coaching dilemma.

“The ZFA said in a statement, as per SNL24, that the delay in concluding this appointment has necessitated the appointment of an interim coaching team that will take charge of our two FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as the COSAFA Senior Men’s Tournament that starts immediately after these qualifiers. This is due to the impending World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa.”

Thus, it is with great pleasure that the ZIFA Normalization Committee announces the following appointments, effective immediately: Sunday Chidzambwa, Technical Advisor; Saul Chaminuka, Assistant Coach; Takesure Chiragwi, Assistant Coach.
