On the last day, Azam FC defeats Simba SC to secure a CAF Champions League place

After defeating Geita Gold 2-0 at Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita, Azam FC placed second in the NBC Premier League behind Young Africans (Yanga SC) and qualified for the CAF Champions League.

Goal differential forced the Ice Cream Makers to settle for third place in the league, sharing 69 points with Simba SC, who defeated JKT Tanzania 2-0 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania will now be represented in the CAF Confederation by Simba. The two Dar es Salaam powerhouses were vying for second place, thus fans eagerly anticipated their matches.

Both sites saw a goalless first half, which prepared the audience for a fierce second half. Yeison Fuentes and Feisal Salum both scored goals in the 58th and 78th minutes, respectively, to give Azam the lead.Goals by Willy Onana in the ninetieth minute and Saido Ntibazonkiza in the eighteenth minute gave Simba the lead.

Simba, however, and Coastal Union, who placed fourth with 43 points, have both qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.

At Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma, Mashujaa defeated Dodoma Jiji 3-0 in the other NBC Premier League game. At CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, Kagera Sugar defeated Singida Big Stars 3-2 to avoid relegation.

At Liti Stadium in Singinda, Ihefu defeated Mtibwa Sugar, a team that had been demoted, 5-1, while Namungo defeated Tabora United, 3-2. The match between Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) and Coastal Union ended in a goalless draw.
