Ex-PM Khan claims that his party was cheated out of the February election in Pakistan

Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, claimed on Thursday that his party was cheated out of the national election in February, calling it the “biggest robbery on public mandate.”

Speaking via video link from jail, Khan claimed that his party was being “victimized” and that he was the victim of “gross human rights” breaches. He added that he was being held in solitary confinement in Adyala jail in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

In the February election, candidates supported by Khan’s party secured the most seats but were unable to secure a majority; as a result, Shehbaz Sharif, Khan’s opponent, was able to form a government with the assistance of affiliated parties.
The Supreme Court granted Khan permission to appear and argue petitions he had filed opposing changes to the nation’s anti-graft legislation.

He’s been talking to a small number of journalists who are permitted to cover his trials, which are taking place within the jail. The public is not permitted to attend these meetings.
