Campaign Finale: Guerrero State Mayoral Candidate Killed in Mexico

Nearly 200 individuals have died as a result of the violence and fatalities that have marred the Mexico campaign activities.

Another incidence of violence marring the Mexico campaign occurred when a mayoral candidate was shot and killed in Guerrero state while wrapping up his campaign.

The main contenders for the Mexican presidency have wrapped up their final campaign stop before of Sunday’s vote.

Approximately 200 politicians, public servants, and candidates have been killed during this election season, which has seen unprecedented levels of violence.

Either Claudia Sheinbaum or Xóchitl Gálvez has the potential to become Mexico’s first female leader at the federal level.

The front-runner Sheinbaum emphasized Mexico’s progress since President Obrador took office in 2018.

“I’m clear that my obligation is to take Mexico along the path of peace, security, democracy, freedom, and justice,” she said, demonstrating her awareness of her responsibilities.

Gálvez, her opponent, pledged to fight organized crime and put family safety first.

“You are going to have the bravest president,” she declared. I will stand up for your family. I’ll watch out for your sons. I’ll be looking after your daughters. Remember that.

Voters will also choose local authorities and representatives to Congress in addition to the presidential contest.

The future Mexican president will have to deal with issues like a stagnant economy, rising levels of violence, and the continuous migrant caravan traveling from Mexico to the United States.
