Attacks on EMS Workers Cause Emergency Services to Be Disrupted in Johannesburg

Attacks on emergency medical personnel have caused problems for emergency response teams, which has resulted in a temporary suspension of services in Johannesburg.

Due to persistent attacks on its employees, Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) ceased service, according to News24.

Following a recent incident in which an EMS firefighter was abducted and assaulted while on duty, this decision was made. The white Impendulo Nissan Combi was taken by the hijackers, and the firefighter was attacked and then left behind at Meyerton, in the Vaal Triangle.

The attacked firefighter was traumatized, according to Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi, and needed time to heal at home with the right care.

Residents of the community were advised by Mulaudzi to let EMS personnel carry out their jobs without worrying about their safety.
