The Premier League Player of the Year title goes to Man City’s Foden

Phil Foden has been a standout player for Manchester City this season, tallying 17 goals and eight assists in the league.

After an incredible season for Manchester City, Phil Foden has been crowned the Premier League’s Player of the Year.

In 2023–24, Foden has tallied 17 goals and contributed eight more assists in the top division.

In City’s attempt to capture an unprecedented fourth Premier League title, the 23-year-old has been essential.

In order to secure the championship, Pep Guaridola’s team must defeat West Ham at home in their season finale.

Foden has scored more goals than six other players combined, and he is having his most successful scoring season for City.

Given the caliber of his opportunities, Foden’s 17 goals have come from a projected goals total of 10, indicating that his finishing has been far above expectations.

In contrast, the England international leads City’s team in opportunities created (68) with 99 shots.

“I am really proud of myself for this accomplishment,” Foden said to Man City’s official website.

In general, I’ve been quite satisfied with my play this season and thrilled to have been able to contribute goals and assists all through the campaign.

“I want to express my gratitude to the coaches, City employees, and most of all my teammates—without them, this would not have been possible.

“And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as the award means a lot.”

The award has now been won by a City player five times in a row: by Kevin De Bruyne (2019–20, 2021–22), Ruben Dias (2020–21), and Erling Haaland (2022-23).
