In Nairobi, people feared they would be trapped under a collapsing building

The Kenya Red Cross claimed that more individuals might be buried beneath the debris of a building that collapsed on Tuesday while it was being demolished in the Mathare neighborhood of the country’s capital.

There are worries that more people could be buried under the debris. On social networking platform X, the Red Cross posted, “Our rescue team has been dispatched.”

This month, after heavy rains, the Mathare River burst its banks, flooding Mathare and causing thousands of residents to flee their homes. Dozens of people were killed and hundreds more forced to evacuate their houses.
