Zambians living in Europe under the radar: Are you paying attention to Avram Grant?

Avram Grant, the head coach of Zambia, will soon reveal the team that will play Tanzania and Morocco.

June will see the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and veteran Israeli strategist Grant is anticipated to choose a team for the two pivotal games.

Talented European players who are either uncapped or haven’t played for Chipolopolo in a while are examined by African Football.

Arnedo, Ongoma Mwanza’s CD

The versatile midfielder and attacker has made 24 starts for Arnedo in the Tercera Federación (fifth division) this season, scoring six goals.

Mwanza, 23, is qualified to represent both his natal country of South Africa and Spain, but he has never competed for Zambia.

The 1,90-foot player has also played in Europe for CD Madridejos, Atlético Astorga FC, CD Varea, CD Agoncillo, and CF La Solana.

Sekzia Ness Ziona – Songa Chipyoka

This season, in the Israeli second division, Liga Leumit, the adolescent striker for Ziona has drawn attention with his ability to score goals from midfield.

In 27 league games, Chipyoka has scored eight goals, and in his past two games, he has scored twice as well.

The 19-year-old was a representative of Zambia in the 2023 Under-20 AFCON finals in Egypt, where he was an under-20 international.

Diego Mwepu – Sanluqueño Atletico

The attacker from Cadiz CF has had a great loan experience with Sanluqueño in the Primera Federación, the third division of Spanish football.

Mwepu has played 30 games, including 21 starts, and has eight more goals than any other Sanluqueño player in the league this season.

The 24-year-old, who has two caps for Zambia, last participated in Chipolopolo games in October 2023, when they took against Egypt and Uganda.
