CCC: Berkane intends to strike first against Zamalek

On Sunday, May 12, RS Berkane and Zamalek will compete in the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup final.

The match begins at 21:00 CAT.

The first leg match is set to take place at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, which is situated in the Berkane city in northeastern Morocco.

Having defeated USM Alger on a walkover after the Algerian team withdrew in the semifinals, Berkane advanced to this level of the competition.

After winning the title in 2020 and 2022, the Moroccan team will be aiming to go all the way and win the Confederation Cup a record three times.

Paul Bassène, a striker from Senegal, will be Berkane’s main man if they are to overcome Zamalek. With four goals this season, Bassène is tied for the tournament lead in scoring.

Zamalek, meanwhile, earned their place in this round of the competition after overcoming Dreams FC of Ghana 3-0 overall in the semifinals.

After taking home the Confederation Cup in 2019, the Egyptian powerhouses will be driven to the finish line to win the championship again.

With three goals in the tournament this season, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, an international for Egypt, leads his side in scoring. Zamalek will be looking to him.

On May 19, Berkane and Zamalek will play their second-leg match at Cairo International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
