NFF Explains Why Finidi Was Hired by the Super Eagles

Ademola Olajide, the Director of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has revealed the rationale behind the soccer league’s decision to choose Finidi George as the Super Eagles’ next head coach.

The NFF national leadership had earlier confirmed Finidi’s appointment last week, according to a report from the New Telegraph.

Despite receiving more applications than any other elite coach, both international and domestic, the 53-year-old was selected for the role.

When Jose Peseiro led the team as handler, the former international was one of his helpers.

Finidi was the team’s interim head coach for the March friendlies against Ghana and Mali.

Olajire asserted that his outstanding background and previous work with Peseiro made him an excellent contender for the job.

“In addition to being a fantastic football player, Finnidi George has prepared himself extremely well and done himself no harm with the laurels he has been able to acquire in his short period of time as a coach,” the speaker stated.

He could have stayed in Spain and accepted a position with a lower division team, but he decided to return to Nigeria and join an NPFL team.
