Reportedly, the Lakers are thinking about drafting Bronny James in order to retain Lebron and grant his wishes
In the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers were defeated 108-106 by the Denver Nuggets on Monday. Once more severing the Lakers’ hearts with a game-winning mid-range jumper, Jamal Murray advanced the team to the second round of the Western Conference Finals. LeBron James finished with 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists, almost achieving a triple-double.
During his post-game media availability, LeBron James stated that he hadn’t given much thought to whether or not he would become a free agency or what his plans were for the upcoming season.
After the game, James said to the reporters, “Nah, I just want to get home to the family,” honestly. “As I look at the calendar, I can see that one of my sons is plainly trying to decide between joining the draft and returning to school. My daughter is playing volleyball, and I have another one playing AAU ball right now. Right now, my wife is making a big difference in our household. And I have to travel to Vegas for training camp in a few months. I must thus give my body a break for that.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, LeBron will likely choose to leave the Lakers after his contract expires. Los Angeles is reportedly prepared to offer LeBron a maximum three-year $164 million contract, according to The Athletic. The Athletic was also informed by a team source that they have no problem with Bronny being selected in the June draft.
In April, Bronny James declared for the NBA Draft of 2024 while still eligible to attend college. In 19 minutes per game, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. It would be intriguing if a different team attempted to acquire James before the Lakers, since that might encourage the King to join that prospective squad.
We do know that the James family’s summer will be highly fascinating.
