In the capital of Somalia, six telecom workers are killed by a roadside bomb

Tragically, a roadside bombing in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, claimed the lives of six telecom workers.

Six employees of Hormuud Telecom were killed in a devastating roadside explosion on the outskirts of the capital city of Somalia, the business confirmed on Sunday.

The fatal incident happened in the Garasbaley neighborhood, according to a statement issued by Hormuud Telecom. The workers were attacked by what the business called a “roadside bomb attack.”

To yet, no one or organization has come forward to take credit for the attack. On the other hand, similar bombing incidents in the region have been attributed to the militant group al Shabaab, which is associated with al Qaeda.

With over 20 years of experience, Al Shabaab has continuously carried out insurgencies in Somalia, attacking both military and civilian institutions. The group wants to topple the federal government and replace it with a government based on a strict interpretation of Sharia law.

The safety of people and the security of the region continue to be major international concerns as authorities look into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate occurrence.
