Abdelhak Benchikha leaves Simba SC after serving as its leader for six months

Juma Mgunda has been named by Simba SC’s management as a caretaker coach after Algerian tactician Abdelhak Benchikha and his assistants mutually terminated their contracts.

According to a statement posted on the club’s social media accounts, X (previously Twitter) and Instagram, Selemani Matola will support Mgunda until the Board of Directors makes a final decision.

It also said that Mgunda’s first assignment is to play Namungo in the Premier League on Tuesday at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi.

The management of Simba SC and Head Coach Abdelhak Benchikha, together with his two assistants, Kamal Boujnane and Farid Zemit, have mutually decided to end their contract.

“Benchikha has asked for the termination of his contract because of matters pertaining to his family in Algeria.

“He needs enough time to take care of his sick wife, as he has notified the club. The request has been granted by the club based on the significance of the issue.

A portion of the statement said, “Simba thank him for the whole time he spent at our club and wish him all the best; we pray for speedy recovery of his wife.”
