Diddy’s attorneys want the claims of revenge porn and human trafficking in the sexual assault lawsuit to be dismissed
Diddy’s attorneys have maintained that he cannot be held liable for actions that, at the time of the incident, were not illegal.
In response to a complaint accusing him of sexual assault, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team has moved to dismiss several of the claims, arguing that they were not supported by law at the time of the claimed occurrence.
The motion, filed in a New York court, contends that Combs cannot be held liable for actions that he took in 1991—the year of the claimed assault—that were not illegal.
Joi Dickerson-Neal, a 19-year-old college student, filed the case, claiming that Combs drugged and sexually abused her following a date in Harlem. It also says that Combs recorded the attack on camera without her consent and gave it to friends in the music business.
Combs, on the other hand, disputes these accusations and charges Dickerson-Neal with trying to take advantage of a statute of limitations that was briefly extended in New York.
The attorneys representing Combs are attempting to have certain charges, like revenge porn and human trafficking, dismissed on the grounds that the pertinent laws were not passed until several years after the alleged crimes occurred.
Despite the fact that the motion is centered on legal issues, Combs and his attorneys “vehemently deny” the lawsuit’s “false, offensive, and salacious accusations.”
Notably, Combs’s level of surveillance significantly increased last month when federal agents raided his homes in Miami and Los Angeles as part of an investigation into sex trafficking.
Numerous recent cases alleging sexual abuse against Combs have been filed. One of these claims was resolved with R&B singer Cassie, who accused Combs of years of sexual abuse, including rape.
A music producer also filed a lawsuit, claiming that Combs forced him into engaging in sexual activity and prostitution.
When the accuser was seventeen, Combs allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Combs and his legal representatives have continuously refuted every accusation leveled against him during these court cases.
