Two weeks after his death, O.J. Simpson’s official cause of death was revealed

Two weeks after his death, the official cause of death for football great and acquitted murderer O.J. Simpson has finally been disclosed.

Simpson’s family revealed his passing and mentioned that he passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

A report claims that Simpson’s cause of death was prostate cancer. Malcolm LaVergne, his longtime attorney, told TMZ that the information was true.

Simpson supposedly received hospice care for “several months” before passing away. The scandalized football player refuted reports that he was receiving hospice care before he passed away, saying that he was in fact entertaining friends and family for a Super Bowl party and was doing well.

In May 2023, he declared he had cancer, but at the time, he seemed to have overcome the fatal illness. But pictures of the former athlete in early January showing him walking with a cane made him appear weak.

Days after being discharged from hospice care, Simpson passed away, according to the news source. It is said that his family members were with him when he passed away.

Given how active he appeared to be on social media, many people were stunned to learn of his death.

The family of the former NFL player revealed the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, passed away from cancer. His kids and grandkids were all around him. The Simpson family kindly requests that you honor their requests for discretion and privacy during this period of change.

Since then, Simpson’s once-brilliant reputation has been tarnished by the murder trials he was involved in after Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman passed away.

According to reports before to his passing, Simpson’s health issues and fight with prostate cancer led to his placement in hospice care.

Simpson, however, dispelled the allegations, claiming that they were unfounded and that he was doing OK.

“Hi there, X planet! Hospice care? Hos-pice, what? Are you discussing hospice care? I’m not in a hospice, no. At the time, Simpson stated on X, “I’m not sure who posted that online.”

Thereafter, he declared, “you can’t trust the media” and revealed that he was going to host “a ton of friends for the Super Bowl” in Las Vegas.

In a video that was posted to X on February 11, Simpson talked about his health issues and expressed his desire to play golf again.

Shortly before the 2024 Super Bowl, Simpson said, “Hey, let me take a moment to say thank you to all the people who reached out to me.” “I’m in good health. Although I have some problems right now, I think I’m almost over them, so perhaps in a few weeks I’ll be back on the golf course.”

“But it was very nice hearing from you and those good, positive words,” the late athlete continued. I’m grateful.

Following his discussion about his condition, Simpson gave his fans his thoughts on the Super Bowl. He said the game would be won by the San Francisco 49ers. In the end, though, the Kansas City Chiefs were too strong for the club.

California’s San Francisco is where Simpson was born and reared. In the late 1960s, he signed on to play football professionally for the Buffalo Bills. Before the 1978 season, he finally signed on with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played until his retirement in 1982.

Simpson’s attorney, LaVergne, affirmed that the late NFL icon’s body—including his brain—would be incinerated. To fund a study to determine whether he had CTE, scientists had asked for his brain to be donated for research.

Many retired football players who sustained many concussions during their careers are affected by Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain illness.

Malcolm LaVergne, Simpson’s longtime attorney and executor, reportedly told the news site that he had approved the cremation paperwork and that the football player’s family had told scientists “hard no” when they asked to research his brain.

“With O.J., everything’s wild, but I’ve been getting calls from medical centers that are doing CTE testing asking me for OJ’s brain . . . that is not happening,” LaVergne stated.

Simpson’s body was ultimately cremated on Wednesday, April 17, and there will be no public memorial service for the disgraced football great.
