Tiffany Haddish discloses that she battled endometriosis and experienced eight miscarriages
The publisher Diversion Books billed Tiffany Haddish’s new book, “I Curse You With Joy,” as a collection of essays that “lay it all bare, bringing readers into Tiffany’s inner circle where joy, honesty, humor, and heart are the order of the day.” Tiffany Haddish will release her book on May 7. She discussed a personal struggle in an interview with PEOPLE that was released earlier today (April 25) in advance of the release.
The comedian recently found out that she has endometriosis, a condition where tissue grows outside of the uterus. “I’m pretty sure the devil is real because the first day of my period, no matter what, the devil goes into overdrive,” Haddish stated. “I feel like my life gets turned upside down.”
The Haunted Mansion actress revealed to the magazine that she ended up visiting a doctor in November 2023 as a result of fainting. Haddish clarified, “She gave me something because I kept passing out.” “I don’t talk about it, but people assume I’m sleeping all the time, even though I’m actually passing out from pain.” It hurts so bad. Someone seems to be kicking me in the back.”
Haddish was previously informed that she had “a dent in my uterus.” Apparently, the dent they noticed on the ultrasound wasn’t there. She said, “It was endo that was hanging down.” “It was just extra layers, but it looked like a dent.”
Haddish disclosed that the condition has caused her to experience eight miscarriages, the most recent of which occurred in 2023. “I always tell people, ‘Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do nothing,’ when I find out I’m pregnant. The Los Angeles, California native acknowledged, “Even if I don’t really want [the baby], I still try to give it a chance.” “It seems like I’ll never understand why there’s so much blood. After that, when I see the doctor, they inform me that I am miscarrying.
Thanks to hormone therapy, Haddish is feeling better these days, even though it makes her “feel drowsy.” She remarked, “But I’ve been working out even more.” “It’s nice that my period has decreased from 11 days to four or five, which is about normal.”
