TANESCO to hire 430, including skilled workers – Tanzania

Parliament has been informed that 430 employees will be employed by the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (Tanesco) in the year 2024/25.

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Judith Kapinga said this today, Friday April 19, 2024 when she answered the question of Tunduru South MP, Daimu Mpakate.

The Member of Parliament has questioned when the Government will hire drivers and technicians who have been long-term workers in the organization.

Answering the question, Kapinga said that Tanesco has been hiring employees of various cadres based on operational needs and budgetary capacity for the year in question.

He said that in the salary budget for the year 2024/25, among other things, the organization has allocated funds for 430 new jobs.

Kapinga said the jobs are for 67 engineers, 135 standard technicians, 205 mechanics and 23 drivers.

Kapinga has said that the filling of these positions will comply with the laws and procedures in the public service.

In the additional question, the Member of Parliament for Nanyumbu, Yahaya Mhata has said that in Tunduru South and Nanyumbu states there are drivers and certified technicians in temporary jobs between five to seven years.

“Is the ministry ready in the upcoming jobs to consider these drivers and certified technicians who have been in the organization for a long time,” asked the MP.

Deputy Minister Kapinga said the ministry appreciates the contribution of laborers, especially technicians and drivers.

“I want to assure you that our employees are working with great effort in our organization, we will ensure that when jobs are released, they are properly considered according to the laws and procedures of the public service,” he said.
