YANGA SC CONTINUES TO FOLLOW THE PATH TO REDEEM TITLE AFTER SINGIDA UNITED WIN

Young Africans (Yanga SC), the winners of the Tanzania Premier League, continued their quest for the league crown this season at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, defeating Singida Fountain Gate 3-0.

With two goals from Stephanie Aziz Ki and a brace from Joseph Guede, the defending champs were able to savor the sweet victory on the road. The best moment came in the 42nd minute, following a series of hits and misses, when Guede found a little opening inside the box and his curving drive deflected before into the back of Singida’s net.

The second half saw a twofold increase in intensity as Singida sought to even the score while the visitors were keen to score more. Aziz Ki did what he does best in the 65th minute, extending the advantage with a magnificent long-range volley to put the visitors ahead 2-0.

It was his 14th goal of the year as he continues to pursue the chance to win the Golden Boot at the conclusion of the competition. Two minutes later, Guede scored his third goal with a header after Clement Mzize’s remarkable work rate during the match had set him up. This happened just as the crowd was still in high spirits.

With the victory, Yanga has now amassed 55 points from 21 games to hold the top spot in the 16-team standings as the exciting season gradually draws to a close.
