Nigerian brothers plead guilty to arranging a lethal sextortion scheme following the suicide of a Michigan adolescent

Two years after a Michigan adolescent committed suicide as a result of a similar plan, two Nigerian brothers entered a guilty plea on Wednesday to planning to use sexual extortion, or “sextortion,” as a means of sexually abusing teenage boys.

Jordan DeMay was 17 years old when Nigerian brothers Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, used a hacked Instagram account to pose as women and start a conversation with the adolescent. They eventually blackmailed Jordan DeMay into sending money and threatened to kill him until he committed suicide in March 2022.

According to John DeMay, Jordan’s father, “I don’t know that there’s any amount of justice good enough for what these two men did to Jordan,” Fox News Digital said. To some extent, I suppose, I do think that this plea agreement is just. Overall though, it’s just sentimental. It’s unbelievable that we find ourselves in this predicament at all.”

For each count of conspiring to sexually exploit juveniles, the Ogoshi brothers could receive a minimum term of 15 years and a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. The two brothers were charged in an indictment with hundreds of identical schemes, many of which involved kids.

“To be here at all is such a blessing. Open cases affect so many families. According to John DeMay, some people have no instances at all. Some people are still in the dark about what truly happened to their loved ones, but we’re extremely lucky to be on the verge of Jordan’s second anniversary, with guilty pleas and suspects deported from abroad. Thus, it’s quite incredible that this is even taking place.”

In addition, DeMay expressed feeling both joy and sorrow, saying that he felt “like it’s kind of the beginning of the end of this phase.”

“But I’m extremely pleased with the work that was done,” he replied.

Awaiting extradition to the US is Robert, the third person accused of being involved in the sextortion scheme that killed Jodan.
