Every KPL coach should possess a CAF ‘A’ license, claims Mwendwa

Of the 25 coaches who signed up for the six-month CAF A License course, 18 have fulfilled the requirements and are now eligible to receive their licenses.

This comes after their final results were revealed on Friday. Charles Okere, assistant coach at Tusker FC, and Jackline Juma, head coach of the U15 girls’ national team, topped the class. Notably, former Ulinzi Stars midfielder Stephen Ocholla and Posta Rangers assistant coach Bernard Kawinzi were both listed in the top 10, as was Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba.

Regretfully, two coaches did not fulfill the minimum attendance requirement in class in order to receive their licenses, and five coaches did not meet the necessary pass mark. As a result, the coaches will have a six-month grace period to complete coursework and other practical sessions in accordance with Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards while they wait to retake their final exams.

“I want to express my sincere congrats to the coaches who have finished this inaugural CAF with triumph. a course. “Your commitment and tenacity have improved your abilities and enhanced Kenyan football,” FKF President Nick Mwendwa remarked.

“As a Federation, we are still dedicated to seeing football grow on all fronts. The FKF President continued, “Our investment in the development of coaches at all levels is not just a milestone; it’s a testament to our dedication to the growth and success of Kenyan football.”

Numerous academic and practical sessions were covered in the course curriculum. Organization, Session Management, Performance Improvement, Meeting Players’ Needs, Communication, and Match Analysis were among the practical sessions that contributed to the final score of 700.

Written practical exams were also administered. Theoretical sessions included written exams, a portfolio of work that was graded out of 300, and topic coaching. Five percent of the total points were awarded for coaches’ understanding of the game’s laws. Three hundred marks were awarded for the oral examination, methodology, and audibility evaluations combined in the presentations.
