Authorities report that a truck driver deliberately crashed into a grocery shop in Tennessee

Tennessee — Memphis Authorities in Tennessee say a guy deliberately smashed a semi-truck into the Kroger grocery store on Tuesday night.

Just before midnight, the 45-year-old Nashville driver, identified by the police as Clarence Carter, entered the Millington business and started a ruckus. After that, he allegedly drove through the entryway in his pickup.

Carter was allegedly trying to flee the area when police arrived, according to the Millington Fire Department. He was hauled out of the car and placed under arrest.

Director of Millington Public Safety Gary Graves stated, “To get the truck out of the building, we had to dismantle it.”

There were workers inside the business, but they were all unharmed.

Carter was brought to Regional One for an examination by a physician. He is being held on two counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and mischief.

According to Graves, “our police department is conducting some additional investigations [to see] if the truck was stolen.” We’re investigating it as there have been rumors that a vehicle may have been taken from Memphis. We are investigating those components of it as well as any possible background he may have had.

Carter’s court date is scheduled for this Thursday.
