Reaching the quarterfinals of the Federation Cup, Mashujaa FC stunned Simba SC

Ten-man On post-match penalties, Mashujaa FC upset Simba SC, one of the biggest teams in Tanzania Premier League, 6-5, to advance to the CRDB Bank Federation Cup quarterfinals at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma on Tuesday.

During regular play, the two teams drew 1-1, which led to the allocation of spot kicks to divide them. Reliants Lusajo (5) gave hosts Mashujaa an early lead, but substitute Freddy Kouablan (51) erased it.

Mashujaa held off strong pressure from the Reds throughout the second half despite having to play with ten players, and the match was eventually broken by the final whistle. It was yet another setback for the giants from Msimbazi, who were recently eliminated by the Egyptian powerhouses Al Ahly from the CAF Champions League.

As of right now, Ihefu, Tabora United, Coastal Union, Namungo FC, Geita Gold, Azam FC, and Mashujaa are the seven teams who have advanced to the quarterfinals.
