The Member of Parliament who died suddenly to be buried today in Zanzibar

Dodoma: Ahmed Yahya Abdulwakil, a 65-year-old member of parliament for Kwahani (CCM), is scheduled to be buried at his town of Buyuni Zanzibar today, Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Tulia Ackson, revealed the news of his passing on Monday, April 8, 2024. She stated that high blood pressure was the reason of his death, which occurred in Zanzibar.
“High blood pressure abruptly claimed his life. The deceased’s funeral is scheduled for tomorrow, April 9, 2024, at his hamlet of Buyuni Zanzibar.”

He stated that today, Tuesday, April 9, there is not a session of the Parliament to allow MPs to take part in the tragedy, in compliance with the 173rd Parliament’s operating procedures in the wake of the catastrophe.

May 19, 1958, is Abdulwakil’s birthday. He has served as a representative in the Zanzibar House of Representatives from 2017 to 2020 throughout his life. He also ran and won a seat in Kwahani State for the 2020 general election.

Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, who was endorsed by the Revolutionary Party (CCM) to compete for Zanzibar’s presidency in 2020 and win, was the previous head of state.

Other members of parliament who passed away were Martha Umbula, Irene Ndyamukama, William Ole Nasha (Ngorongoro), Elias Kwandikwa (Ushetu), Said Khatibu Haji (Konde), and Atahasta Nditiye (Muhambwe).
