‘Having unprotected sex with prostitutes’ is a common initiation practice among British soldiers in Kenya
As part of hazing, senior British soldiers are alleged to have started new recruits at the Nanyuki military installation in Kenya from having unprotected intercourse with prostitutes, exposing them to STDs.
This is in line with a report that appeared in the UK’s Mail on Sunday, stating that as part of an initiation procedure, new members are given the option to wear a condom or not at the flip of a coin.
“The more experienced soldiers would toss a coin; on a heads result, you could use a condom, on a tails result, you could not,” the British Medical Journal Military Health article stated.
Due to the fact that HIV/AIDS affects 5% of Kenyans compared to 0.2 percent in the UK, the assertions have apparently concerned UK defense supervisors.
A senior commander who had gone for a trim indicated in the report that soldiers were increasingly using prostitutes near the British base in Nanyuki, with some services even being provided at barbershops.
