Heathrow Airport: A minor collision between two Virgin Atlantic and British Airways aircraft resulted in minor damage to both aircraft

The incident, which involved a Virgin Atlantic aircraft and a British Airways plane carrying 121 passengers, resulted in no injuries. When it occurred, according to Virgin Atlantic, its empty Boeing 787-9 was being towed from the stand at Terminal 3.

The airline also said that the aircraft was being moved to a different area of the airfield after it had just landed. The other aircraft was clipped by one of the towed plane’s wings. At 12:40 BST, the British Airways passengers were supposed to take off for Accra, Ghana.

British Airways claimed to have given them a substitute aircraft, which was rescheduled to depart at 18:00. Virgin Atlantic said that it was looking into the matter and that its aircraft, which has been taken out of service, was undergoing maintenance checks.

According to the statement, Virgin Atlantic contracted with a ground-handling company to provide the tow movement. “We are collaborating with emergency services and our airline partners in response to an incident involving two aircraft on the ground earlier today,” a Heathrow spokesperson stated.

“At this time, there have been no reports of passenger injuries, and we do not expect any sustained effects on airport operations,” the spokesperson continued. Precautionary measures led emergency services to the scene. According to the Met Police, it is standing by the airport authorities.
