Bronny James announces NBA career and joins roster while future is uncertain

NBA legend LeBron James went undrafted after just one season with the Trojans and found himself in the transfer window when he decided to stay in college.

According to Shams Charania of Athletic, he will collaborate with NBA teams, visit them and make a draft decision based on evaluation.

Bronny is said to be weighing his NBA stocks. What drives him to make his NBA decision is the importance of the team, not the draft.

Bronny’s first season at USC was disappointing.

During a practice at USC in July, Bronny suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that sidelined him for nearly five months.

USC made his first start of the season a month later.

The 19-year-old averaged just 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game with the Trojans and shot just over 25% from three.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, James plans to meet with teams before the May 31 deadline to remain in the draft.

James will keep his name if he realizes there is a potential development plan.

“I don’t really appreciate a young player hitting the lottery, but I do appreciate getting him on the right team at the right time,” Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports and James’ agent, told ESPN in March.

If James’ education does not attract the attention of NBA teams, he may return to college.

James will definitely attract a lot of attention in the transfer market and with another year of development he could become a star in any team.

Duquesne is one team to keep an eye on when James returns to college.

New Dukes coach Dru Joyce was a high school teammate of LeBron and a family friend of James.

Keith Dambrot, who retired last month after coaching Duquesne to its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1969, was LeBron’s high school coach.

There were reports earlier this week that Bronny would be joining the ranks after USC head coach Andy Enfield left to coach at SMU.

“I don’t know where the report is coming from, but at the end of the day, Bronny is his own person,” LeBron

said. “He’s got some big decisions to make, and when he’s ready to make those decisions, he’ll give us all the time off, but as his family, we’ll support everything he does.”
