Biden may possibly hand out green cards to 4,000 illegal immigrants annually

President Biden is now considering expanding a program that could allow up to 4,000 undocumented immigrants every year to avoid deportation by handing out green cards and remain in the United States.

The Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review presented a request to grant thousands of migrant’s lawful permanent residents in September 2023, according to the report from the department.

For those who lived in the United States 10 years and above, never been convicted of “serious crimes”, have “good ethical character”, and have a legal citizen relative who would “suffer an exceptional and extremely unusual hardship” as a result of deportation could qualify for access to this program.

“You will have to wait your turn before an immigration judge can approve your application,” the proposal document reads. “This may perhaps take years.”
