Rwanda, DRC give mixed signals in attempted to end conflicts

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi and his Rwandan matching part Paul Kagame have both decided, or at least publicly assured, to meet and discuss how to put an end to war in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

But then, they blame one another of being the obstacle to those very attempts to end the tension that has fumed Eastern DRC for the last 30 years, but most recently centered on their conflicts.

Angolan President João Lourenço, AU’s diplomat for the Great Lakes and the region’s negotiator into the conflicts, has lately attempted to beg both sides to choose negotiation. On Thursday March 21, high-level Congolese and Rwandan delegations met in Luanda to arrange for the meeting between Félix Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame.
