Tanzania opposition has weakened the democracy examine, research says
Tanzania’s opposition parties have been blamed of advocating water but sipping wine after an experiment discovered absence of inner party fairness through their elections and primaries.
The research on intra-party democracy in Tanzania, conducted by the University of Dodoma and issued last month, determined that party elections are usually stage-managed to recommend the incumbent, mostly in circumstances where party constitutions do not state clear succession trails.
“The possibility of another candidate defeating the incumbent chairperson is generally very low and the candidate selections mostly feature one aspirant who amasses almost all the party membership votes,” the research reveals.
