Dr. Biteko wants the Ministry of Water to guarantee clean and safe water services

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko has asked the Ministry of Water to ensure that Tanzanians get clean and safe water services to match the real value of the water infrastructure built by the Government at great cost to provide services to the people efficiently.

Dr. Biteko has issued the order in Dodoma on March 22, 2024 while closing the Tanzania Water Week celebration which coincided with World Water Day.

He has instructed the Ministry and Water Authorities to focus on the construction of large strategic projects including dams to harvest rainwater in areas without reliable water sources and emphasized that the issue should not wait for sufficient financial resources but start implementing them and the resources will tend to come when the implementation has already started .

He has also called on individual citizens, Government Institutions, Individuals, Religious Sects and other groups to set up rainwater harvesting infrastructure in their homes to strengthen the availability of water from rains.

Speaking about conservation and environmental care, Dr. Biteko has asked the citizens to come forward to express their views on the strategy of water resource conservation at this time as the Government continues with the preparation of the National Vision for the Year 2050 so that the issue of water resource conservation is given the priority it deserves.

In addition, he has instructed the Water Boards and the National Environmental Conservation and Management Council (NEMC) to increase efforts to control environmental pollution and even when investors come to the country, they must take care of the environment so that they are not affected.
